Intuit has done a fantastic job of adding features to the advanced inventory module. For the first time ever, you can now choose FIFO as an inventory method. BE CAREFUL, if you make the change, it changes your past history, so it is strongly recommended that you start a new company file if you plan to switch to FIFO. If you are intending on adding advanced inventory, please contact me before you try to implement the solution. There are some choices that need to be made (ie. FIFO changing past transactions) that could impact your financials in a negative way. Ask questions and get help.

You can also track serial OR lots in your inventory. This will help a whole lot of people. Many of my clients are tracking serial numbers in a separate excel worksheet. Now all of that information can be kept directly in QuickBooks.
