Twin Cities QB/MIsys Users Group is Forming

How do you maximize your use of QuickBooks and MIsys SBM?
How do you know that you are getting the most out of each software component?

Mobile CFO is pleased to organize and administrate the Twin Cities QB/MIsys Users Group. This group meets every 6 weeks at an individual member company where we will tour the plant and review their MIsys SBM setup. There will also be a specific discussion topic for each meeting, but other module questions are always encouraged. For more information please visit:

viewmypaychecks.com - watch the 25% discount

I know that everyone is hard at work proofing the books to get ready for tax time. One nice feature is the ability to publish paychecks and W2s on www.viewmypaychecks.com.

It is an Intuit cloud application which allows payroll admins to safely publish information to employees. I've seen it in action and I like it alot. It is one more way that Intuit is bringing great value to the marketplace. However, when you publish W2s, Intuit gives you a link to a "25%" discount off of Turbo Tax. I'm a Turbo Tax user, so I eagerly clicked on the link. It is 25% off of Turbo Tax WITHOUT a state.

So if you happen to live in an area without state income tax, it is a great deal. BUT if you have to download a state file for Turbo Tax deluxe, it is $36.95, making the total $59.99. That is the retail price of Turbo Tax deluxe.

Happy New Year-What Rev version are you using for QB 2009?

The QB 2009 saga continues... as you are getting ready to report and remit sales tax (I'm doing it today), PLEASE make sure that you are on Rev version 10. All you have to do is press F2 on the keyboard and the QB stats page will come up. In the middle of the page, you will see "versions used in file". Mine reads R10 12/24/09.

If your version is 9 or lower, click on this link to get detailed information on how to update your file.

Remember that this only affects QB 2009. So those of you who have already upgraded can relax.

and oh by the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Do Not File your Sales Tax Return with QB 2009 R9!

I have just been informed by Intuit that sales tax reports may not be working correctly if you are using QB 2009 R9. R9 is the update that Intuit asked us to do earlier this month. It is a major update that has caused a bunch of headaches.

To solve the sales tax problem, Intuit is releasing R10 Wednesday December 16th at this link:

http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/pages/knowledgebasearticle/...

You can download the patch beginning December 16th or you can wait until the automatic update runs on the 17th.

But PLEASE do not file any sales tax returns until you can verify (using f2) that you have upgraded to R10. Of course you can always just upgrade to QB 2010 and avoid this problem all together.

QuickBooks R9 is quite the bear!

I'm hearing from my client base about the difficulty in applying the new R9 release. First of all, understand that Intuit made some changes to the datebase structure. That is why each client AND the database server manager must be updated. The easiest thing that I have seen is to download the exe file and then update the server computer. Make sure that everyone is out of the company file, close the database server manager and then run the exe file.

Once the patch is completed, the administrator will need to update the company file. Just log in as the admin and accept the update.

If you're getting errors, Intuit just released a new knowledgebase article. It can be found here:
