Tayco Engineering

The Problem:

Tayco Engineering's accounting system was from another time. It was DOS-based and worked only in Windows 98. Something had to be done to update the system to the current day. The CFO, Sheri Nikolakopulos, had one major concern: how were they going to get their accounting data out of the old system? The data tables were locked down, and she could not see a way to get at their data.

 The Solution:

Baby Banou, LLC

The Problem: Baby Banou, an upscale specialty baby retail store in St. Paul, was 4 days away from the grand opening. Late on a summer Friday night, the owner was struggling with the QuickBooks Point of Sale that she had purchased directly from Dell. She should have been able to “dress” the store, display the merchandise, and get ready to introduce her unique product lines to the public. Instead, she was wrestling with software. The configuration was far from complete, and she was running out of time. She called Mary at Mobile-CFO on that Friday night and asked for a 9:30 AM meeting the following morning.

Holmberg, Inc.: Misys and QuickBooks Enterprise A Winning Combination

Problem:   A family-owned specialty paper manufacturer had an old production system that was not meeting their needs. They were looking for a way to cut the high annual maintenance fees and at the same time, upgrade their infrastructure. They wanted a partner to training the system administrators and the database managers on the inner workings of the system. Their staff has a high level of competency and they wanted to leverage their in-house resources as much as possible for the data conversion and system customization.

Oakdale Gun Club

The Problem:  In May of this year Oakdale Gun Club wanted to upgrade their clubhouse and their infrastructure.Oakdale Gun ClubOakdale Gun Club  As part of the upgrade, they wanted to replace their simple cash register with an integrated Point of Sale system.  Through a competitive bid process, they selected Mary Brettmann of Mobile CFO to assist them in the upgrade.  Since they are non-profit, it was important for Oakdale to save as much money as possible by using club volunteers whenever possible.

The Solution:   As part of the planning process, Mary gave them  as much of the initial configuration  as they could handle.

USE TAX ACCRUAL CAN BE DONE IN QUICKBOOKS

When you purchase something over the internet--even if the merchant does not charge sales tax--you are still responsible to accrue and pay use tax. Granted, Quickbooks does not do a great job of use tax accrual, but it possible to run a purchase report and review the report for sales tax paid. If tax was not paid, you can accrue and pay use taxes correctly. Simply adjust the sales tax due to include use tax due in the
"pay sales tax window" (located in the vendor menu). This will keep the tax accrual straight in Quickbooks. The sales tax and use tax can be paid at the same time (but note the difference on your sales tax return).
