Tax Line Mapping in QuickBooks

Every so often, I’m asked about Tax Line Mapping. Tax Line Mapping is a descriptive field in each account in the Chart of Accounts. It is primarily used for mapping information into Turbo Tax (another Intuit product). If you use tax line mapping, then you can upload your QuickBooks file directly into Turbo Tax, saving time and effort. If you take your return to a tax preparer, you can still use tax line mapping to create tax reports. Those reports are located in the Accountant and Taxes report section.
